About
Seth earned his Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand View University and is a temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC). He works with adolescents, usually ages 12 and older, adults, and couples facing trauma, relationship conflict, family stress, major life changes, difficulty regulating emotions, parenting concerns, childhood wounds, and seasons when life simply feels overwhelming. Seth also welcomes clients who want to talk about matters of faith, while respecting each client's individual beliefs, values, and preferences.
Seth believes that understanding why we respond the way we do is often an important part of changing how we respond. The relationships, experiences, and hurts we carry can affect how we see ourselves, how we connect with others, and what happens inside us when life gets difficult. Seth helps clients look beneath the surface to better understand those patterns, recognize what may be driving their thoughts, emotions, and reactions, and develop healthier ways of responding. His approach is grounded in Attachment Theory, with an emphasis on relationships and the impact of past experiences, while also helping clients examine their thinking, accept what they cannot control, and take practical steps toward meaningful change.
Seth wants the person sitting across from him to feel like they are talking with someone who genuinely cares about them and what is happening in their life. He believes counseling should be a place where you can say the things that are hard to say anywhere else, ask difficult questions, laugh when you need to, and be honest when life is messy. Seth knows that pain has a way of shaping how we see ourselves and how we respond to the people around us, often without us realizing it. But he also believes our wounds do not have to determine who we become. His goal is to help clients understand what is driving their responses, heal what needs healing, and find healthier ways to move forward in their relationships and their lives.
Outside the counseling office, Seth and his wife have been married for more than 22 years and have three children and a dog. They love spending time together and finding good food whenever they can. Seth has also served as a worship leader in churches for more than 20 years. After spending much of his life standing in front of people, he is grateful for the opportunity to now spend his days sitting across from them, listening to their stories and helping them through some of life's hardest moments.
